Fourth of July in Maine
Written by David Tanklefsky
Greetings from Brooklyn.  The month of June flew by. Friends Mark Brickman and Peter Loring came to visit and we saw the Slip and Dr. Dog.  After the Slip show at the Bowery there was a giant dance party to Michael Jackson's "Don't Stop."  Beautiful.  One of those five minute segments that appear out of thin air and evaporate just as quickly.  I went to Chicago to see Grant.  He is finishing work on the Grimis documentary, it's fun to look through.  We might do a screening when it is finished.  The new Dirty Projectors album tops my album of the year list so far.  Bitte Orca.  After a few months of practicing and switching up our lineup a bit, Post Panda is back on duty playing a bunch of east coast shows this summer including stops in Philly, Cambridge, New York City, and the 5th Dead Horse Festival!  Delo and I have been watching Twin Peaks.  We are up to episode 6, season 1.  Summer is upon us.  I hope everyone has a great Fourth of July. Here is part of one of my favorite poems of all time, Robert Lowell's Fourth of July in Maine:

"O high New England summer, warm
and fortified against the storm
by nightly nips you once adored,
though never going overboard,
Harriet, when you used to play
your chosen Nadia Boulanger
Monteverdi, Purcell, and Bach's
precursors on the
Magnavox.

Stillness Is the Move.
